Peace Corps Applicants Can Qualify Without a Four-Year DegreeIn today's Peace Corps, opportunities are available for potential Peace Corps Volunteers who do not have bachelor's degrees. Applicants with associate's degrees can qualify for programs in youth development, health, business, agriculture, the environment, and skilled trades. In most cases, the associate's degree must be in a related field and be supplemented by related work experience. For example, an associate's degree in a computer-related discipline and two years of computer work experience can qualify someone for a business program. Of, an associate's in any field and one year of full-time work in youth leadership training can qualify someone for a youth development program. In rare instances, applicants can qualify without any degree. These applicants must have one of the following: five years of management at a nonprofit organization; one year of vegetable gardening, nursery work, or fish cultivation; or one year of construction, masonry, carpentry. or plumbing. If you, as an RPCV, encounter an interested person who does not have a bachelor's degree, please let them know that they may still qualify. Have them contact the Seattle Regional Office at 1-800-424-8580, option 1. |
